In a shocking incident in Gujarat's Surat district, three railway employees were arrested for allegedly attempting to sabotage train tracks near Kim railway station. The trio, identified as Subhash Poddar, Manish Mistry, and Shubham Jaiswal, reportedly conspired to derail a train by removing fishplates and track keys. They later alerted the authorities, claiming that miscreants had tampered with the tracks.
The police investigation revealed that the three employees had staged the sabotage in a bid to be assigned night shifts, allowing them more time with their families during the day, and to gain recognition from their seniors. The incident occurred on September 21, when the accused were inspecting the tracks. They informed the authorities at 5:30 AM after loosening bolts and removing crucial track components. Fortunately, the attempted derailment was thwarted, and no train accidents occurred.

The incident is part of a larger concern, with recent sabotage attempts reported across India. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized that railway authorities are on high alert and collaborating with state governments and the NIA to enhance security and prevent similar incidents.
