In a disturbing incident in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, a teacher has been booked for allegedly assaulting a class six student for wearing a cap to school. The incident, which took place on December 20 at Nav Bharat Children Academy, led to an FIR being filed against the accused, Jitendra Rai, on Wednesday.
According to police reports, the student, Shlok Gupta, was verbally abused and physically punished by Rai, who objected to the cap. When Shlok’s father, Anil Kumar Gupta, raised the issue with the school principal the following day, Rai allegedly escalated the abuse, striking Shlok again and banging his head against the wall.
Prashant Kumar Chaudhary, the officer in charge of Chitbaragaon police station, confirmed the FIR. "The teacher's conduct not only violated professional ethics but also endangered the child's well-being," Chaudhary stated.
The case has ignited local outrage, with parents and community leaders demanding stricter monitoring of disciplinary practices in schools. Many have criticized the lack of oversight in private educational institutions and called for stronger protections for students.
