In between the ongoing clash between the Meghalaya chief minister and the public state bodies like ACHIK and GHSMC, violence broke out outside the Meghalaya chief ministers office at Tura, Meghalaya.


Details of the Incident

A large crowd gathered outside the Office of the Meghalaya Chief Minister and began stone-pelting the office. The police immediately took action and released tear gas to disassemble the crowd. In the violent transaction, 7 police personnels were grieviously injured.

Later, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said, “The incident that took place in Tura outside the CM’s secretariat is very unfortunate. As per law, necessary action will be taken.”

Actions Taken

A monetary compensation of Rupees 50,000 has been ordered to be delivered to the 7 police personnels injured as medical allowances. A preliminary investigation has found that nearly 1000 people were involved in the attack. The exact motive behind it, however, has yet not been ascertained.
