Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath warned against derogatory remarks on religious figures, stressing respect for all faiths. His government aims to maintain law and order during the festive season, with strict action against anyone inciting violence or disrespecting religious sentiments.
Amid a growing controversy over priest Yati Narsinghanand’s offensive remarks against Prophet Muhammad, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a stern warning, emphasizing that derogatory remarks against saints, deities, or religious figures will not be tolerated. Adityanath stressed the importance of respecting all faiths, warning that any individual who disrespects religion will face strict legal action.
The Chief Minister’s remarks came as he reviewed the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the upcoming festive season. He made it clear that while peaceful celebrations will be encouraged, any form of anarchy, vandalism, or arson in the guise of protest will be dealt with severely. "Anyone engaging in unlawful acts will be punished," Adityanath asserted, adding that law enforcement agencies across the state have been instructed to maintain vigilance and ensure women’s safety through increased patrolling and a quick police response in crowded areas.
The controversy involving Narsinghanand, a Ghaziabad-based priest known for inflammatory comments, has drawn backlash from several Muslim organizations and political parties, including the Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, and National Conference, all of whom have demanded his immediate arrest. While an FIR has been filed against him, reports of his detention remain unconfirmed by the Uttar Pradesh police.
