Expected Action by AuthoritiesThe legislative assembly of Rajasthan had passed a Bill in the year 2019 in which mandatory jail and a hefty fine between 1 lakh and 5 lakh rupees had been planned to be levied against any person accused of mob lynching. The Bill has yet not been implemented owing to strong protests by the Leader of Opposition who wanted the matter to be referred to an unbiased committee. However, the discussion on the Bill reflects that the Rajasthan government has plans to take the crime of mob lynching seriously.
