During a campaign event, Donald Trump advised Israel to prioritize strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities following recent missile attacks. He criticized President Biden for opposing such a move, arguing that nuclear weapons are the greatest threat. Biden had emphasized a proportional response to the conflict, while Trump urged for a more aggressive approach.
Former U.S. President and Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump on Friday advised Israel to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities, in response to the recent missile attacks from Iran. Speaking at a campaign event in North Carolina, Trump criticized President Joe Biden for dismissing the idea of targeting Iran's nuclear infrastructure, arguing that it should be the primary focus of any military response.
Referring to Biden's recent statement against attacking Iranian nuclear sites, Trump said, “Isn’t that what you’re supposed to hit?” He emphasized that nuclear weapons pose the greatest risk and that if a military strike were to happen, it should prioritize Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Earlier in the week, Biden had told reporters that he would not support strikes on Iran’s nuclear program, even after nearly 200 Iranian missiles were fired at Israel. Biden reiterated that Israel has the right to respond, but emphasized that their response should be proportional, a stance Trump disagreed with, asserting that nuclear targets should take precedence.
