At an election rally, PM Modi accused Congress of treating states as financial “ATMs” for its leadership, pledging to protect Maharashtra from such exploitation. He also challenged Congress’s commitment to Ambedkar’s legacy and urged unity against divisive tactics. Modi highlighted BJP’s achievements and expressed gratitude for Maharashtra’s support.
Addressing a rally in Akola ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused Congress of exploiting states under its rule as financial sources for its leadership. Modi stated, “Wherever a Congress government is formed, that state becomes the ATM of the party’s ‘shahi parivar’ (royal family),” and vowed that Maharashtra would not become an “ATM of the Congress.”
Modi challenged Congress's commitment to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s legacy, asking if Congress leaders had ever visited Ambedkar’s “panchteerth” sites, symbolizing Ambedkar’s significant life events and places, including Deeksha Bhoomi in Nagpur and Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai.
Modi promoted a message of unity, urging voters to adopt Haryana’s “Ek hai to safe hai” (united, we are safe) approach to counter Congress’s alleged divisive tactics. He criticized the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, calling it “synonymous with corruption” and contrasted this with his government’s achievements, such as building four crore pucca houses for the poor.
